Gas prices went up about 10 cents across the board this week.
According to AAA, the average Rockford area gas price is currently $2.82 per gallon. That's about 10 cents more than last week and about a dollar less than a year ago.
In Chicago, prices are currently at $3.47 per gallon. That's almost 10 cents more than last week's average and about 40 cents more than last month. However, current prices are about 80 cents less than prices from a year ago.
The average gas price for Illinois is $2.92 per gallon. That's 10 cents more than last week, but it's about a dollar less than it was last year.
The national average price is $2.80 per gallon. That's five cents more than last week but about 90 cents less than last year.
