According to AAA, the average Rockford area gas price is currently $2.71 per gallon. That's about three cents more than last week and about a dollar less than a year ago.
In Chicago, prices are currently at $3.39 per gallon. That's one cent less than last week's average and about 30 cents more than last month.
The average gas price for Illinois is $2.92 per gallon. That's about two cents more than last week, but it's about a dollar less than it was last year.
The national average price is $2.75 per gallon. That's about 90 cents less than last year.
