In this presentation, David Gunkel, author of the books The Machine Question (MIT Press, 2012) and Robot Rights (MIT Press, 2018), offers a provocative argument for giving serious consideration to what has been previously regarded as unthinkable: whether robots and other technological artifacts of our own making can and should have a claim to moral and legal standing.

5–5:30 p.m. Check-in, refreshments and informal networking.

5:30–6:30 p.m. Book talk and Q&A from the audience.

6:30–7 p.m. Opportunity to purchase a signed copy of Robot Rights and talk with the author.
