According to AAA, gallon of regular gas in the Rockford area costs $2.38 on average. That’s about 7 cents less than a week ago and about 80 less than a year ago.
Chicago prices are at $2.89 per gallon. That's about a nickel less than a week ago and about 75 cents less than a year ago.
The state average is $2.46 per gallon. That’s almost a dime less than last week but about 75 cents cheaper than it was a year ago.
The cheapest gas in the state, on average, is in East St. Louis, where it’s at $2.22 per gallon of regular unleaded.
The national average is $2.26, which is about five cents cheaper than last week.
The state with the highest gas is Hawaii at $2.90 per gallon. South Carolina has the lowest at $1.94 per gallon.
