Gas prices in Illinois decreased by a couple of cents from last week.
According to AAA, gallon of regular gas in the Rockford area costs $2.26 on average. That’s a nickel less than a week ago and about 75 cents cheaper than a year ago.
Chicago prices are at $2.73 per gallon. That's seven cents less than a week ago and about 75 cents less than a year ago.
The state average is $2.33 per gallon. That’s only two cents less than last week but about 70 cents cheaper than it was a year ago.
The cheapest gas in the state, on average, is in Danville. There, it’s at $2.06 per gallon of regular unleaded gas.
The national average is $2.19, which is a cent less than last week.
The state with the highest gas is Hawaii at $2.87 per gallon. South Carolina has the lowest at $1.87 per gallon. Both prices declined by two cents from last week.
