Gas prices dropped ever so slightly across the state and country since last week.
According to AAA, the average Rockford area gas price is currently $2.73 per gallon. That's about a nickel less than last week and about 75 cents less than a year ago.
In Chicago, prices are currently at $3.35 per gallon. That's about five cents less than last week and about 60 cents less than a year ago.
The average gas price for Illinois is $2.91 per gallon. That's three cents less than last week, and it's about 80 cents lower than it was last year.
The national average price is $2.77 per gallon. That's the same as last week and almost a dollar less than last year.
