Stockholm Inn is the home for our potpourri of music from 5pm to 7pm on 1st Saturday and 5:30pm to 7:30pm on 3rd Friday of each month. The Trinadora musical mixture includes vintage and contemporary pop, folk, country, jazz, blues, Latin, Celtic, and variety music - everything except the proverbial kitchen sink 🙂 Janel Nelson and Ron Holm accompany their vocals with keyboard, ocarina, guitar, ukulele, fiddle, harmonica, jSax, bass, steel guitar, concertina, and more. The room can fill up, so please phone 815.397.3534 for reservations, and mention that you need seating in the music area.
Award-winning vocalist Maureen Christine brings her crystal-clear voice to deliver an uplifting after-hours concert in the library’s main lobby! This event features Maureen’s heartfelt renditions of inspiring songs including Wind Beneath My Wings, You Raise Me Up, Because You Loved Me, and You Light Up My Life. She will also sing classic gems such as Over The Rainbow, What A Wonderful World, Morning Has Broken, and You’ll Never Walk Alone. You’ll also hear some lighter songs including L-O-V-E, Sunny Side of the Street, Love Will Keep Us Together, and more.
Maureen Christine is a celebrated Broadway-style entertainer. She delights audiences throughout the country with her “natural melodious, expressive voice” (AllMusic Guide) and is heralded as a “singer worth crowing about” by the Chicago Tribune for her thoughtful interpretations of great American standards, romantic ballads, and original compositions.
Maureen will be joined by Michael Bazan, a highly-regarded woodwind player. As a professional musician, Michael has played saxophone, flute, and clarinet, with several musical legends, including Billy Eckstine, Cab Calloway, Bob Hope, Jerry Lewis, Frankie Valli, and more. Michael has also performed in various symphony orchestras, including the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and the Galesburg Symphony. An active musician, he continues to learn and perform in the Chicago area and throughout the Midwest.
Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and music will begin at 6:30 p.m. No registration is required.

Concert audiences across the United States, Europe and Asia have been brought to their feet by a pairing of musical personalities as improbable and winning as Organized Rhythm’s combination of the pipe organ and multi-percussion. British organist Clive Driskill-Smith and American percussionist Joseph Gramley present what has been described as “an exciting musical adventure, offering startling clear insight into what makes a live performance good, and why good live performances are important for us.” (The Granite State News, NH)
Organized Rhythm’s program “Dancing with the Stars” will feature dance-inspired music spanning five centuries, plus the world premiere recording of Brenda Portman’s Three Sketches on Welsh Hymn Tunes. This event is co-sponsored by the Rockford Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

We are delighted to host an evening of cultural songs, both traditional and new compositions, after-hours in the library’s main lobby!
Aboud Agha was born in Syria and immigrated to Boston Mass at the age of twelve. He is an accomplished performer and composer of Arabic and Middle Eastern music. Aboud is a master of the Oud (Middle Eastern lute) and of many vocal styles from this part of the world. He has a master’s degree in musical performance from Northern Illinois University and a doctorate in ethnomusicology from UCLA in California. He now teaches at the American University in Dubai.
Aboud has performed his music solo, in ensembles and with orchestras in America, Europe and the Middle East. He returns to visit the Midwest this summer after a concert at the library of congress in Washington D.C. Click here to see Aboud’s many Instagram posts.
Aboud will be accompanied on percussion by DeKalb native Sven Oscar Hansen. Sven was born to Norwegian immigrants in the American Midwest, where he raised four children and owned a greenhouse and florist shop. Sven has lived and studied in Norway and India and is a certified yoga teacher and sound healer. He creates and performs events incorporating music, poems, and sound healing. Sven has studied Vedic science and holds a degree in world literature from Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa. He lives in DeKalb Illinois.
The evening also includes a brief discussion of this ethnic music and their interpretation of it. There will be an opportunity after the show to meet and chat with the artists.
This concert is free and open to all. Doors will open at 6:00 and music will begin at 6:30 p.m. No registration is required.
Rock History Comes Alive!
Get ready for a legendary night of music as Grammy Award-Winner, Jim Peterik and the Ides of March bring their iconic, horn-driven sound to the Woodstock Opera House! Best known for their 1970 chart-topping hit “Vehicle”, this powerhouse band continues to thrill audiences six decades later.
With roots in classic rock and a frontman who co-wrote hits like “Eye of the Tiger” and “Hold On Loosely,” this is more than a concert, it’s a celebration of rock history!

NIU Mariachi is part of the World Music Ensembles at the NIU School of Music. The ensemble was founded during the1970's with its first official concert in 1975 with Dr. Kuo-Huang Han as the first director of the program and Dr. Jui-Ching Wang from 2004. Last Spring of 2025, the NIU World Music Program celebrated its 50th year anniversary.
NIU Mariachi started as a student club under the guidance of the then trumpet Professor Christopher Scanlon and students Jair Nuñez and Axel Solorzano. On Fall 2024 they welcomed Mr. Antonio "Tony" Ozuna as the new musical director. Members are full-time students at the School of Music and from other schools. NIU Mariachi specializes in traditional and contemporary repertoire on the Mariachi tradition.
