State Senator Karina Villa, of West Chicago, said finding new state revenue sources is urgent, especially considering the strain on the state budget if federal cuts are enacted.

New enrollment for the state's health insurance program for poor noncitizens was suspended for adults 42 to 64 years old in July. Farmworkers, among them undocumented residents and H-2A visa holders, were some of the workers impacted by the pause in enrollment.
