The Principal Behind 'Dizz Wizz' Books Talks Father-Son Stories & The Student Who Changed His Life | Teachers' Lounge Podcast

Peter Medlin

On a new Teachers’ Lounge, we have Rheon Gibson! He’s the principal at Littlejohn Elementary School in DeKalb AND the author of a series of children’s books called “Dizz Wizz”!

We talked a ton about being a first-year principal during a pandemic. We went into how his book series spawned out of experiences he had with his son and the importance of father-son stories. The books also came out of themes he picked up on during his time as a school counselor like overcoming failure, resolving conflicts and even food insecurity.

On top of all that, Rheon tells us the story of the counselor who changed his life when he was a student and then the student who changed his life that led to him being a counselor!
