Holly Jones is a Presidential Research, Scholarship, and Artistry Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and the Institute for the Study of the Environment, Sustainability, and Energy, where she specializes in conservation biology and restoration ecology.

Her Evidence-based Restoration Lab studies how ecosystems recover from disturbances and the best ways to restore ecosystems. Holly is a National Geographic Explorer; her field work has taken her to far-flung islands across the world and she has ongoing projects on oceanic islands and at Nachusa Grasslands in Franklin Grove, Ill.

She double-majored in Marine Biology and Ecology and Evolution at University of California, Santa Cruz and received her doctorate from Yale School of the Environment.

In her spare time, she enjoys making mischief with her husband and two daughters, reading fiction, cooking, gardening, and traveling.
