Illinois Added 7,400 Private Sector Jobs In June, Report Says

ADP

Illinois is gaining private sector jobs at a slowly increasing pace after a big swing earlier in the year.

Human resources management firm ADP, in collaboration with Moody’s Analytics, Inc., measures changes in nonfarm private employment each month on a seasonally adjusted basis.  The June ADP Regional Employment Report® says the state added 7,400 private sector jobs last month. That’s up from 6,300 jobs added in May, and 5,200 added in April.

The steady increase in the pace of hiring contrasted with the previous quarter, when 9,300 jobs were gained in March, following a gain of only 2,500 jobs in February.

An increase of 8,600 service jobs last month was partially offset by a drop of 1,100 in goods-producing ones. Looking at particular sectors of the job market, professional and business services gained 3,400 jobs in June, while manufacturing, mining and construction lost 1,200 jobs.
