Illinois is recognized as the state that best represents the national electorate in a new study.
Five categories were used in thestudy by the personal finance site WalletHubto form an overall national electorate index score. Illinois was first overall with just over 94%.
Illinois ranked highly in many categories including first in racial characteristics, wealth gap, sociodemographic rank, and economy rank.
The state also placed second in educational attainment and age characteristics, plus third in income closest to U.S. reference value.
Neighboring states Wisconsin and Indiana ranked seventh and sixteenth overall, respectively.
