WNIJ’s Gas Price Monday: Aug. 31, 2015

Gas pricesin Illinois continue to decline. A gallon of regular gas in the Rockford area costs $2.66. That’s about 25 cents less than a week ago.

The state average is $2.77 per gallon. That’s down 30 cents from last week but about 80 cents cheaper than it was a year ago.

The cheapest gas in the state, on average, is in Quincy, where it’s at $2.29 per gallon of regular unleaded. That’s 20 cents less than last week.

Chicago prices are at $3.32 per gallon. That’s 25 cents less than a week ago.

The national average is $2.47. The state with the highest gas is Alaska at $3.40 per gallon. South Carolina has the lowest at $2.03 per gallon.
