WNIJ's Gas Price Monday: August 17, 2015

Carl Nelson/WNIJ

Gas pricesrose across the state since last week. That’s due to an Indiana refinery shutting down for unplanned repairs.

In Rockford, a gallon of regular gas costs about $3.03. That’s more than 50 cents than a week ago.

The state average is $3.16 a gallon. That’s down about 50 cents higher than last week but about 40 cents cheaper than it was a year ago. Drivers are spending 30 cents less per gallon than they were just a month ago.

The cheapest gas in the state, on average, is in Quincy, where it’s at $2.82 per gallon of regular unleaded. That’s 40 cents higher than last week, but still 70 cents cheaper than a year ago.

Chicago has the state’s priciest gas at $3.63 per gallon. That’s still 20 cents less than a year ago.

The highest recorded average price of gasoline in Illinois was in March 2012, when it hit $4.68 in Chicago.
