Northern Illinois University has announced another staffing move within the school's administration. The Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Bill Nicklas as the Vice President for Public Safety and Community Relations. Nickals, who joined NIU in 2011, has held multiple titles since his arrival. Last fall, he was named acting director of public safety amid a scandal at the campus police department.
Under his new role, the school says Nicklas will also serve as NIU’s senior crisis team manager.
Earlier this month, NIU announced that chief of operations Eddie WillIams was taking a leave of absence. The move came after federal authorities searched campus police headquarters. Williams' private housing development company was named in the search warrant.
