A gallon of regular gas in the Rockford area costs $2.40. That’s a dime less than a week ago and a dollar less than a year ago.
The state average is $2.61 per gallon. That’s down 15 cents from last week but about a dollar cheaper than it was a year ago.
The cheapest gas in the state, on average, is in Bloomington-Normal and Decatur, where it’s at $2.05 per gallon of regular unleaded.
Chicago prices are at $3.02 per gallon. That’s more than 10 cents less than a week ago and almost a dollar less than a year ago.
The national average is $2.34. The state with the highest gas is Alaska at $3.28 per gallon. South Carolina has the lowest at $1.94 per gallon.
