Northern Illinois University’s football team is heading to Florida for the second time in the past three years. The Huskies accepted an invitation Sunday to play in the inaugural Boca Raton Bowl. The Huskies will take on Marshall University 5 p.m. Dec. 23.

NIU wrested the Mid-American Conference title back from Bowling Green Friday night. The Huskies crushed the Falcons at the MAC championship game in Detroit, 51-17.

Drew Hare threw for two touchdowns and ran for one in the victory. The Huskies finished the game with 552 yards on 100 plays from scrimmage. NIU is the MAC champion for the third time in four years. This win avenged last year's title game loss to Bowling Green.
