The Winnebago County Health Department reported a spate of new COVID-19 cases Monday. Public Health Administrator Sandra Martell made the announcement.
“Over the last three days, there were 225 positive cases reported for Winnebago County," she said. "Our seven-day positivity rate is at 9%.”
Martell said the numbers reflect an increase across northern Illinois. Region 1, in which Winnebago County is located, hit a positivity threshold of 8% on Friday. If it remains at or above that level for two more days, the counties within could face mitigation efforts, such as reduced capacity for indoor events and restrictions on bars and restaurants.
