Dixon’s City Council has fired city manager Cole O’Donnell in a split vote.
Sauk Valley Media reports that ties were cut officially after a majority of the council agreed on a severance package including five months of salary -- $53,542 -- and health benefits.
Several council members weren't willing to speak about the vote, but Mayor Li Arellano, Jr., said there were concerns about council conversations not being relayed to department heads. In addition, he says O’Donnell didn’t sell his home in East Moline and establish his principal residence in Dixon, which is required by law.
The city swore in Police Chief Danny Langloss as interim manager. Langloss previously served as interim city administrator in 2013.
