It's Gas Price Monday. According to AAA, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline in the Rockford area this week is $2.22 per gallon. That's eight cents less than a week ago, and twenty cents less than a year ago.
The average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Illinois statewide is just over $2.28 per gallon, virtually unchanged from last week. Springfield has the lowest price in the state at $1.99 a gallon, while Chicago has the highest at $2.65 per gallon.
The national average stands at $2.18 per gallon.
