There have been 21,648 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in DeKalb County. That includes 179 confirmed deaths to date. Nearly 54% of DeKalb County’s population is now fully vaccinated.
The City of DeKalb has opened warming centers to the public. They are located at the Park District, Public Library, Salvation Army, and Christ Community Church. These locations will be open from Monday-Friday.
In Sycamore news, the city’s police department sent out a reminder that parking on the city’s streets in 2 or more inches of snow is now prohibited a day after the snow falls. Sycamore’s Police Chief says that keeping the streets clean will give emergency vehicles more time to get to an emergency call.

The Egyptian Theatre will hold its fifth annual "Jazz at the Egyptian" this Saturday starting at 7pm. The concert features local jazz ensembles.
The Sycamore Public Library is holding anAfrican Heritage Cooking Series this Saturday afternoon. There will be 6 virtual cooking classes in the series where attendees can learn to cook African recipes.
The Egyptian Theatre is holding a "BOO’ze and Spirits Flashlight Tour" where attendees can check out the secrets and spirits in the haunted theatre.
Sports
The DeKalb High School Barbs boys basketball team defeated the Naperville North Huskies 54 to 50. Up next, they face Waubonsee Valley on Friday night.
In Sycamore, the boy’s basketball team lost to La Salle-Peru this week. They’ll face Morris on Friday night.
Meanwhile, theSycamore girls varsity basketball team beat Kaneland. They’ll take on LaSalle-Peru Thursday night at home.
Weather
Any lingering snow will be out of the way by Thursday night, but the cold will be settling in for much of the near-future. The sun will come out for the first time in a while on Friday, temperatures will struggle to reach 20 in the afternoon. Overnight lows will drop into the lower single digits with wind chills likely below zero. The cold continues for the weekend, a sunny Saturday will stay in the teens throughout the day and night. A warming trend begins on Sunday, as we break well into the 20s and could see 30s once we head into the work week.
