A new Illinois law expands the scope of a state heroin task force. Governor Pat Quinn signed the legislation yesterday. It expands the age range of the Young Adult Heroin Use Task Force study to include grades six through 12.
"This is a plague and we are not looking the other way. We, as a state, as the family of Illinois of 13 million people, have to take action to prevent this plague from happening. We want our children to understand what the menace is," said Quinn.
The task force will investigate youth heroin use and recommend further state action.
