Mary Ellen Schaid has been the Executive Director of Safe Passage since 2014.
Her career has been spent working in Illinois and Missouri for victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault. She has been passionate about trying to make the complicated systems they interact with -- such as Safe Passage, DCFS, the courts, public welfare and the police -- work better for them.
She currently is very concerned about the state of Illinois and the state of the country and am active with the Fox Valley Indivisible Group and the League of Women Voters.
Mary Ellen holds a Masters of Social Work degree from Loyola University and lives in St. Charles. She is addicted to podcasts.
