Hard Rock International Promises Support For Rockford Park District
Hard Rock International has pledged several philanthropic initiatives to the Rockford Park District if the company secures a casino license in the city.
The district has been searching for alternative sources of funds due to declining property tax revenue. Hard Rock approached them several weeks ago about public investment. Rockford Park District Executive Director Jay Sandine proposed several music-related projects. These include an outdoor amphitheater and a music production studio at a community center.
“And this is right up Hard Rock’s alley, so it was really an easy and fun way to develop this partnership concept and it was easy for us to stand up publicly Tuesday night and throw our hat in the ring for Hard Rock Casino," he said.
Hard Rock is currently one of two parties that wants to build a casino in Rockford. The company has until August 30th to send its proposal to the City. The Illinois Gaming Board will make a final decision on a casino license in October.
