One Dead After Plane Catches Fire At Rockford Airport, Cause Unknown

One person is dead after a plane crash Thursday afternoon in Rockford. According to a news release,  a King Air 200 aircraft with one individual on board went off the runway and caught on fire at the Chicago Rockford International Airport. The incident occured shortly after 3:40 p.m. 

The Rockford Register Star reports there is a fatality.

This is an open investigation and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will be assisting in the investigation, and will be partnering with the Federal Aviation Association (FAA) to determine a cause.

Currently, the airport is fully operational with minimal delays to scheduled operations.
