The man suspected of killing a DeKalb woman in the parking lot of her workplace Friday was shot and killed by police hours later. According to a news release from the Sycamore Police Department, Antonio Juarez, 44, was killed during a shooting with police at 5:54 p.m. Friday near Lyons, Ill.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on June 9, 2017, Lidia J. Juarez, 37, was found shot to death inside her car in the parking lot of the Illinois Department of Human Services building in Sycamore, where she worked.

Investigators learned Lidia Juarez was estranged from her husband and that an active order of protection had been issued. Antonio Juarez had been wanted on a warrant for violating an order of protection and on a failure-to-appear warrant for domestic battery.

Investigators believe he acted alone in the shooting of his wife.

Lidia Juarez’s death is the only homicide to this point in Sycamore in 2017.
