A Northern Illinois University organization is bringing the spirit of the holiday to its campus.
NIU’s Outdoor Adventures programming through the school’s Rec Center has been limited by the pandemic. Organizers say they haven't, for example, been able to do as many weekend trips.
Christine Lagattolla is associate director of Outdoor Adventures. She says they wanted to find a way to engage college students in a safe way this Halloween. So they came up with a scavenger huntusing Easter Eggs around campus.
“I know we have lots of different options for younger children," she said. "But there isn't always things to do, especially for college students as well, where it still brings you back to thinking about the holiday in the spirit of the holiday for all ages.”
There will also be trivia and other challenges for students. The event happens tonight at the MLK Commons.
