As part of the Illinois Department of Employment Security's modernization effort, Illinois employers will soon be able to use MyTax Illinois to complete all their unemployment insurance tax processes.

Department director Jeff Mays stopped in Carbondale Wednesday to remind employers about the change coming in less than two weeks.

"We're turning out the lights on our old systems, TaxNet, on September 4 and turning on the lights on this brand new tax system, MyTax Illinois Unemployment, on September 11.

Mays says this collaboration with the Department of Revenue will streamline tax collection efforts and make both more efficient and save the state money.

"We're also going to be able to double down on fraud. We'll be able to double down on collections. We'll be able to double down on audits because we're willing to say our institutional programs need to serve them not the institution."

For assistance, employers can visit mytax.illinois.gov .
