Marc VanOverbeke, Ph.D., is the associate dean for academic affairs in theNorthern Illinois University College of Education and an associate professor in the Department of Leadership, Educational Psychology, and Foundations.
His research focuses on the history of education and the history of educational access and opportunity. His first book explored the connections between secondary and higher education at the turn of the twentieth century and how those connections influenced access to college.
He currently is researching the history of state colleges, athletics, and the expansion of educational opportunity in the post-World War II decades.
When not in his office, he likes to cycle, go to concerts, and travel.
