Wisconsin Will Recognize Hundreds Of June Same-Sex Marriages

State of Wisconsin

Wisconsin will recognize hundreds of same-sex marriages that were performed in the state in June.

Governor Scott Walker announced today he directed state agencies to carry out the law.

About 550 same-sex couples were married in Wisconsin during a brief window last summer. The legal fate of those marriages was unclear until today.

Last week, the US Supreme Court refused to consider appeals of struck down gay marriage bans. The move paved the way for same-sex marriages in several states.
