The DeKalb Festival Chorus Presents Opera Choruses

If you've ever attended one of the great lyric operas wishing you could cherry-pick your favorite choruses to hear again, Classical WNIU suggests you attend the next performance by the DeKalb Festival Chorus on Sunday, May 6th.

Whether you're a seasoned opera fan or would simply like to know more about some of the world's most famous opera choruses, the DeKalb Festival Chorus presents an assortment wonderful passages by composers like Bizet, Verdi, Wagner and others, arranged by contemporary British composer and conductor John Rutter.  New music director Amy Gatschenberger conducts this 40-member chorus, guest musicians and soloists with a grand finale featuring the NIU Graduate Brass Quintet and the NIU Community School of the Arts Children's Choir.  A bit of narration introduces you to the dramatic context for each piece.

Don't miss this entertaining and educational afternoon of "Opera Choruses" at 3pm, Sunday, May 6th. You'll find more information about this DeKalb Festival Chorus on our Events Calendar.
