WNIJ and NPR Music for Northern Illinois

NPR member station WNIJ is the premier station for emerging and established musicians throughout northern Illinois. World Cafe, Tiny Desk, Sound Opinions, and Sessions from Studio A present a mix of performances by artists, including earnest interviews with musicians behind the music, and play independently recorded music spanning a range of genres not heard on commercial radio. 

Weekly Sessions from Studio A

Sessions from Studio A showcases regional and touring musicians. Typically recorded in WNIJ’s Studio A, Sessions offers regional talent and nationally-recognized artists with a professional yet intimate recording space. Artists stop by the studio to play and chat with host Carl Nelson about the stories and inspirations behind their songs. Sessions from Studio A delivers a live concert experience for the large base of music fans in the greater Chicago area and beyond who want a closer look at the art and people behind the songs.
