Doug coordinates the Northern Illinois Radio Information Service (NIRIS) activities at our DeKalb studios. If you've ever been a NIRIS volunteer in DeKalb, you've worked with Doug. When he's not buried beneath stacks of newspapers in the NIRIS studio, you can probably find Doug preparing lunch (or breakfast, or dinner) in the break room.

Julie Amacher's desire to introduce others to great music is what led her to radio. She's worked at stations in Wisconsin, Colorodo and Minnesota. Through the years, she's earned four national awards for best announcer. Indications that radio was Scott's blood go back to age five, when he used a corkboard and a battered phonograph as a makeshift radio studio. His real radio career began in college, working as a volunteer at a local cable radio station, announcing alternative and new rock music. His love and appreciation of classical music began at a public radio station in Nebraska, where he spent 13 years in various on-air and management roles. In his spare time, Scott is an avid cyclist and amateur playwright with several produced scripts to his credit.

Bob's managed to combine his knowledge of classical music and history with a sharp wit and a talent for foreign languages into a radio career since 1966. Long-time listeners to WNIU (and we mean long) may remember Bob's voice from decades ago. While studying the ramifications of the "Time of Troubles" on the Grand Duchy of Moscow, he led a secret life as the evening man on WNIU. He's glad to be back and loves sharing classical music with our listeners.

Lynne recently returned to a career in radio after a four-year hiatus. In this "Cavorts with Collies" period, she followed her lifelong passion for working with dogs as a trainer and behavior consultant. She started "Good Dog Productions," her in-home dog training business, in 2006. Previous to The Dog Mutterer phase, she served in many music-hosting capacities in Minnesota, including the Minnesota High School Music Listening Contest, Echoes of Christmas with the Dale Warland Singers, Sommerfest broadcasts, and as a guest narrator with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and Minnesota Orchestra.

John got started in broadcasting as a news anchor at his high school's closed-circuit television station, and then at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. After a dozen years doing virtually everything there was to do at a small public radio station, John crossed over into the private sector, doing audio production and narration for a major educational publishing company, managing translation projects for an international communications company, and generally learning what it's like to work for a living. Having seen the light, John returned to radio in 1992. After deciding his zen garden was too much of a headache, John looks for enlightenment on the tennis court and the billiard table instead.
