The National Weather Service Chicago office says there is a threat for strong (EF-2+) tornadoes across northern Illinois Thursday between 4 and 8 P.M.
The highest threat will be in the dark red shaded area on the map.
NWS says to take tornado warnings seriously and have multiple ways to get warning information today.
Strong winds (gusts of 45-60+ mph) developed behind the first round of storms. Chicago and counties to its west are under a High Wind Warning until 4 P.M.
NWS also says some storms may produce torrential rains that could lead to flash flooding this evening. It urges caution when driving in a heavy rain and reminds people to never drive or walk across flooded roads.
