National Park Fee Hike Wouldn't Affect Illinois Sites

The Trump administration’s proposal to raise entrance fees at popular National Park Service sites will not affect Illinois.
The Lincoln Home in Springfield and Pullman National Monument in Chicago will both remain free.
Laura Gundrum oversees Education and Visitor Services at the Lincoln Home. She says there’s been no talk of changing the entrance policy.
“When Robert Lincoln donated the home to the state of Illinois, there were two conditions: keep it maintained and do not charge a fee for the public," she said. "So when the state of Illinois gave it to the National Park Service, we have continued that tradition.”
Gundrum says the Lincoln Home does have a $2 parking fee that goes toward maintaining the property.
The National Park Service network operates 417 different sites, only two of which are in Illinois.
