Chuck E. Cheese's is leaving South Suburban Oak Lawn because it couldn’t keep adults from fighting in the children’s restaurant.
On Wednesday, owners told village officials they would be closing.
That came just hours before a planned village board meeting to consider disciplinary actions against the company.
Village Trustee Terry Vorderer lives right by Chuck E. Cheese's.
"You know I have grandkids and I’ve taken them there and we had a nice time. But the incidents have gotten more violent in the past decade."
Vorderer says the restaurant on 95th Street has been a problem spot for Oak Lawn for years.
He says the final straw came last week, when a patron who left the children’s pizzeria was shot just a few blocks away.
