A Northern Illinois school official is working from home and waiting for word on his future.
Earlville School District Superintendent Wade Winekauf was arrested last month on a charge of domestic battery. Ogle County State's Attorney Eric Morrow says the office is reviewing the police reports and other information for possible charges. Mr. Winkauf's bond return day is Thursday, December 18th, at 9:00. Charges will be filed before that date and time.
Polo Police Chief Dennis Christen says, Winekauf who is a part-time police officer, is ineligible to work during the investigation because his guns were confiscated. Roger Torman, President of the Earlville School Board said, Winekauf is currently working from home in full capacity as Superintendent. He won't be seen on campus for now, pending the completion of an internal and external investigation.
If Winekauf is convicted, he will lose both of his positions, according to School Board President Torman and Chief Christen.
