The United Auto Workers union has approved a new four-year contract with Fiat Chrysler.

Workers at an Illinois factory overwhelmingly approved the deal in voting that ended Wednesday night.

The website of the union local in Belvidere with 4,200 workers says 81 percent voted for the new deal.

Overall, 77 percent of UAW members voting said yes.

The agreement covering 40,000 workers at 23 factories gives raises to all workers and eliminates a two-tiered pay system over eight years.
