Northern Public Radio's #GivingTuesday focus is the Northern Illinois Radio Information Service (NIRIS). NIRIS is a division of Northern Public Radio that provides current print information to blind and print-impaired citizens. Any person who is unable to read, hold a book or turn a page because of a visual, physical or learning disability may borrow a receiver. Listeners can keep up to date with readings of newspapers, food and shopping ads, books, popular magazines and special interest programs. This is a free service for listeners funded entirely by contributions and grants.
- Consider a monetary gift to support this valuable community service. Click here to support NIRIS with either a monthly or one-time monetary gift.
- Help us spread the word. There are estimated to be over 38,000 print-impaired people in the NIRIS listening area, and only a small fraction use the service. Click here to find out more or share this email to help spread the word.
- Volunteer your time and talent. Email Maria Boynton, Director of Community Engagement, for a volunteer application or call (815) 753-9000.
Help us prioritize community service with your gift of money, time and/or advocacy in support of Northern Illinois Radio Information Service. #GivingTuesday
