An American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois report released today found evidence of racial bias in data collected in 2013 about police consent searches during routine traffic stops.
According to the report, black and Latino drivers are more likely to be subject to consent searches and dog sniff searches than white drivers. The report also indicates that white drivers are more likely to be found with contraband than minority drivers.
The ACLU of Illinois report based its figures on data from the 2013 Illinois Traffic Stop Study. A full breakdown of data from that 2013 report can be found here.
