Go back in time; relive the happy days of the ’50s and ’60s with an evening Sock Hop 'on the creek.' The Trinadora Rocks and The Vince Chiarelli Band will provide a night full of music, dancing, and fun! During last year's full-house sock hop, the performers promised the audience to repeat the event soon, and here it is.
The Trinadora-Chiarelli combination performed a decade ago, in the first year of Concerts On The Creek, and tonight's sock hop is also part of the Concerts On The Creek 10th anniversary special lineup. This is a true ‘50s-style sock hop, so, although it's optional, folks are encouraged to wear their best 50s apparel and dancing socks or Converse sneakers.
Sock hops originated in the early ‘50s when kids at high school dances were required to remove their hard-soled shoes to protect the varnished floors of gymnasiums—running shoes were not yet in vogue as everyday footwear.
Doors open at 6pm and the concert runs from 7pm to about 9pm. Bottled soft beverages and prepackaged snacks will be available at 6:15pm and during intermission. There is no admission charge, but goodwill donations from the audience pay the musicians and help to defray the church's event hosting costs. Attendance is limited to 150. Those who wish guaranteed seating regardless of what time they arrive may make an early donation in the form of a minimum $5 non-refundable 'earnest money' ticket at https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/d1d54cae-4e72-4505-a92c-5b1976bf525c?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR3FiLzuqWsLq2JjvETvLVujwQnfIzL0An5_Qx0dFVbXsaNUsb6YIajQYJs_aem_ZmFrZWR1bW15MTZieXRlcw. 'Tipping' the trio at digital checkout is encouraged, as is making an additional donation in person on concert night. A total donation of $10 per person is encouraged, but all amounts are appreciated. Those who are unable to buy online may email cotc4500@gmail.com or phone 815.979.1949 for special arrangements.
