Jazz in Progress will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 24th at the Dee Palmer Band Shell in Hopkins Park, 1403 Sycamore Road in DeKalb. The 18-piece community jazz band will play a variety of music including classic jazz standards, Swing-era, funk from the 1960s and ‘70s, as well as other favorites. The band will also feature a number of vocal and instrumental soloists from within the members of the ensemble. Jazz in Progress is an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that puts funds raised back into local community music programs, including the DeKalb, Genoa-Kingston, Hinckley-Big Rock, Indian Creek, Sandwich and Sycamore music booster organizations, as well as St. Mary’s-DeKalb and the DeKalb County Community Foundation.
