250 Exhibit We the Women: Herstory Collections of DAWC
The public is cordially invited to view the 250 exhibit titled, "We the Women: Herstory Collections of the DAWC." This exhibit has a double open house on Friday, August 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, August 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. It is free to attend, but donations to the nonprofit are gratefully accepted.
DeKalb Area Women's Center (DAWC) presents an excellent opportunity to learn about contributions of women who did not receive well-deserved credit. A dozen themes will guide visitors through Herstory: DAWC Poster Collection, 33 out of 250 Years of Valuing Women through the DAWC Archives, NIU Women's History Month Program Posters, Smithsonian Women Inventors, Statue of Liberty Collection, Information about DAWC, Stories About the Old Finn Hall, Women on Stamps, Women on Coins, Women on Buttons, The Suffrage Movement, and The Nineteenth Amendment.
Parking is free in the lot 1/2 block south off of 11th Street. An accessible lift is available from the alley just north of the building. Rain Gardens in front are part of the DAWC waterproofing project. Looking up is the new, Finnish Blue roof. Contact DeKalbAWC@gmail.com for additional viewing appointments. The public is invited to come by 1021 State Street in DeKalb, ready to read!
