Mexican gray wolf population growing

The Mexican gray wolf population is growing in the mountains of Arizona and New Mexico. The wolves were nearly extinct in the 1970s, but the latest annual count shows there are now 257 wild Mexican gray wolves, a 6% increase from last year.
