On a new Teachers’ Lounge, we have Scott Wickman! He’s worn many hats throughout his career: Spanish teacher, counselor, professor, journalist, squirrel trainer. For years, he was an associate professor at Northern Illinois University’s department of counseling and higher-ed.
Wickman just retired during the pandemic, and I got to sit down with him to talk about retirement, learning to help people through trauma, mental illness in pop culture, and teaching squirrels!
Also, special programming note: this is the 50th episode of Teachers’ Lounge! Over the past year and change, I’ve gotten to talk to so many fascinating educators thanks to our incredible listeners who took the time to nominate a person who inspired them.
We’ve had therapy dogs, Korean War vets, comic book artists, rappers and a few live episodes of the podcast. I’m excited to keep them coming. Thanks!
