Illinois Comptroller: Paychecks Processed

state of Illinois

Illinois Comptroller Leslie Munger says her office has completed processing paychecks due Wednesday and 6,800 employees will be paid on time.

The Republican Munger said Monday she processed the payroll in response to a St. Clair County Circuit Court ruling that she should pay state employees even though there is no spending authority in place.

GOP Gov. Bruce Rauner and Democrats controlling the Illinois General Assembly have yet to agree on a fiscal blueprint even though the fiscal year is already two weeks old.

A Cook County judge ruled last week employees must be paid the federal minimum wage, but that action was put on hold. The St. Clair judge ruled in favor of total payroll two days later. Appeals are expected in both.
