The American Heart Association updated their original recommendation of three whole eggs per week.
The guideline was made in the 1970s after the association recommended dietary cholesterol should be limited to 300 milligrams or less per day.
The American Heart Association now says up to one whole egg per day -- or seven eggs in a week -- can be part of a healthy eating plan, as long as it substitutes other foods higher in cholesterol such as meat, poultry and dairy.
