Tuesday's extreme heat is resulting in some weather-related closings. That includes an early dismissal for the Rockford Public School district. Here as an announcement from RPS regarding the early dismissal:
Due to the anticipated heat index this afternoon, RPS is dismissing students two hours earlier than normal dismissal time. Y Care programs at Bloom, Carlson, Froberg, Gregory, Johnson, Rolling Green, Spring Creek, Thompson and Washington will be open after the early release. All other after-school care programs are canceled. After-school activities will run on a modified schedule developed by each school. Contact your school office for details about extracurricular activities. We will continue to monitor the weather for the rest of the week.
