The snow on the ground is not as deep as forecasters for the National Weather Service predicted, but it was enough to trigger emergency snow ordinances and a lot of closings all across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
Winter storm warnings continue through this afternoon and beyond, with expected additional snow ranging from lower numbers in the southern portion of the WNIJ listening area and higher moving north.
Residents and visitors should check with local municipalities about winter parking ordinances. And it's probably wise to check with the event you plan to attend before setting out -- just in case.

Snow amounts on the ground at 7 a.m. this morning, as reported by NWS, included 2.7 inches in Rockford, 2 inches in DeKalb, 1.4 inches in Marseilles, 1.3 inches in Dixon, and 3.5 inches in Roscoe. O'Hare Airport reported 3.6 inches.
