Protesters Shut Down Chicago Police Accountability Forum

Dozens of protesters have shut down the final public meeting of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel's task force on police accountability.

The Chicago Tribune reports that about 40 people moved toward the stage where task force members sat, forcing an abrupt end to the meeting at a high school in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood.

Emanuel formed the panel in response to the public outrage over the 2014 killing of black teenager who was shot 16 times by a white officer.

The anger erupted in November when the city was forced to release video of the killing.

Emanuel has responded with promises of an overhaul in the Police Department's leadership and the “culture'' of policing in the city.

Thursday's protesters questioned the legitimacy of the task force and the Police Department.
